MR BEAN

Rowan Atkinson aka Mr Bean, was already a star among his schoolmates during his school days. He was good at pulling funny faces and imitating his teachers. Although he was actively involved in acting then and his teachers predicted a bright future in the entertainment line for him, Rowan never  thought that he would eventually end up as an entertainer.

This shy man with the rubbery face went to Oxford University and graduated with a degree in electrical engginering. However, being in the spotlight attracted him more than learning the mechanics of it. A rehearsal for a performance in 1976 unlocked his talent and change his destiny.

Rowan is indeed a man of many talents. Today, many of us recognise his as the funny Mr bean, or the secret agent in 'Johnny English' or as the priest in the movie 'four weddings and a funeral'.

TOURISM

Over the last ten years tourism has increasing become a major player in the bussiness world. This phenomenon is being experienced worldwide, in first-world countries to the remote highlands of third-world countries.

The obvious reason would be the increase in leisure time people have with the advent of technological know-how.With technology taking over routine household chores and certain tasks in the work place, people have more time to think of travelling.

Another significant reason is the cost of travel.Cheap airfares especially with the introduction of budget, no-frills airlines allow more people to travel. The introduction of packaged holidays is yet another contributing factor to the surge in tourism.

Fortunately, sustainable development has caught up with the tourism industry. There is a growing interest to check environmental degradation and protection of wildlife.
